Tournament Season Calendar

The TFA Tournament Season runs from the last weekend in August through the second weekend in February. Students compete at tournaments throughout the season to earn points for the TFA State Tournament hosted in March.

TFA STATE 2024

TFA State will take place in Houston, Texas March 7-9, 2024.

HOW DO I KNOW HOW MANY POINTS I HAVE RIGHT NOW?

Tournaments upload their results reports which will then be published for confirmation directly on Tabroom. You can see how many points you have by accessing your Tabroom account!

Coaches should verify their student's point totals and contact the IQT Coordinator if there is an issue.

Student Scholarships

The Texas Forensic Association will award four scholarships at the state tournament in March. Applications MUST be received by Friday, January 26, 2024.

Applications will be rated on honors/achievements, financial need, academics, and service to the speech & debate community; all elements are weighted equally.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Applicant must be a Senior

  • The applicant should have qualified for TFA State Tournament this year or last year.

  • All parts of the application must be typewritten. Handwritten applications/letters will be rejected.

  • All application parts must be received by Friday, January 26, 2024.

  • If the name of the student, the coach or the school appears anywhere other than on this form, IT WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. Coach recommendations should NOT include the name of the coach or the school

Instructions for Coach's Recommendation:

  • The application will NOT be considered without a typed, one-page coach recommendation

  • Do not use school letterhead

  • Do not use the student's name in your letter

  • Recommendations should include

    • your overall endorsement of the student,

    • your evaluation of financial need,

    • other factors the committee might need to know

  • A coach may recommend as many students as they deem deserving.

Instructions for the Personal Narrative:

  • The personal narrative should include an explanation of why applicants believe they are deserving of this scholarship.

 

Your application is NOT COMPLETE until you have submitted both portions: Application Form with Personal Narrative (below) AND Coach Recommendation (coaches should email these to JP Fugler at fuglerjp@lisdeagles.net).
